Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

1. General Requirements

  • Manuscripts submitted to Samalewa must be original works resulting from community service activities (pengabdian kepada masyarakat) that have never been published or are currently under review in other journals.

  • Manuscripts must align with the journal's focus and scope, covering community service in the fields of Education, Economy, and Islamic Studies.

  • Manuscripts can be written in Indonesian or English.

  • The recommended length is between 3,000 to 5,000 words, including figures, tables, and references.

  • Manuscripts must be submitted online via the OJS system in Microsoft Word format (.doc/.docx).

2. Manuscript Structure Articles on community service generally follow this structure:

  • Title: Concise, clear, and informative, reflecting the content of the community service activity.

  • Author Information: Full name (without academic titles), institutional affiliation, and corresponding email address.

  • Abstract: A comprehensive summary (150-250 words) containing the background of the partner's problems, objectives, implementation methods, results, and impact on the community.

  • Keywords: 3-5 relevant keywords, separated by semicolons (;).

  • Introduction: Explain the situation analysis, problems faced by the partners/target community, and the solutions offered through the community service activity.

  • Method of Implementation: Clearly describe the methods used to solve the problems (e.g., training, mentoring, counseling, application of appropriate technology, etc.). Describe the location, time, duration, and profile of the target audience.

  • Result and Discussion: Present the results of the activity implementation. Explain the achievement of objectives, partner participation, obstacles encountered, and solutions implemented. Documentation of relevant activities (photos/charts) is highly recommended. Describe the impact of the activity on improving the partners' knowledge, skills, or welfare.

  • Conclusion: A brief summary of the results and suggestions for the sustainability of the program or future community service activities.

  • Acknowledgement: (Optional) Addressed to funders or parties who assisted in the implementation of the activity.

  • References: Contains sources cited in the manuscript. It is recommended to use reference management software (such as Mendeley or Zotero) using the APA Style (American Psychological Association) format.

3. Formatting

  • Paper Size: A4.

  • Margins: Top, Bottom, Left, Right (adjust according to the template, typically 2.5 cm or 3 cm).

  • Font: Times New Roman or as specified in the journal template.

  • Spacing: 1.15 or 1.5 spacing.

4. Submission Process

  • Authors must Register as an Author on the Samalewa journal website.

  • Login and select "New Submission".

  • Follow the 5 steps of manuscript submission from Start to Confirmation.

  • Ensure the manuscript is free from plagiarism (check via Turnitin/iThenticate) before submission.
